Lam Akol launches his campaign for presidency

MALAKAL, Monday
The Chairman of the Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement (Democratic Change) Dr Lam Akol has launched his election campaign for the Presidency of Southern Sudan.
Dr Akol addressing a mass rally in Malakal at the weekend, affirmed his party’s concern over the democratic change and the peaceful handling of power in South Sudan, indicating that the coming stage necessitates carrying out reformation programmes by all the Sudanese political parties.
Sincere efforts
Dr Akol pointed out that the current political transformation prevailing in the country was a result of the sincere efforts being exerted by the people of Sudan.
He pledged that if he won the presidency of Southern Sudan in the April poll, he would continue the implementation of the development projects in the South.
He singled combating of the political and administrative corruption, economic reformation, exploitation of the available resources and the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) as his main goals.
Dr Akol held press conference at Malakal airport stressing the necessity for launching his election campaign in Southern Sudan. (Suna)
