A man shot dead two teenage girls and badly wounded another aboard their school bus in southern Turkey on Wednesday after one of them spurned his attentions, media reports said, quoting officials.

Authorities were still looking for the suspect, named as Sinan Yaman, 23, who fled the scene after the incident.

"We know the identity of the suspect. He was previously charged for harassing one of the two girls who, unfortunately, died in the shooting," Celalettin Cerrah, governor of Osmaniye, told Anatolia news agency.

Yaman stopped the bus on its way from school and opened fire with a shotgun, private NTV news channel said. Two girls, both aged 16, were killed while the third was hospitalised with wounds, it said.
