Sang discharged after arm operation

Radio journalist Joshua arap Sang was on Sunday discharged from Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret after undergoing an operation on the left arm.

Mr Sang, who spoke to journalists after being discharged, said that he was fine and headed to his rural home in Cherangany for prayers ahead of his departure to the Hague on Tuesday night.

“I am okay and am going for prayers that have been organized by various churches in Cherangany ahead of my visit to the ICC,” said Mr sang, who was accompanied by family members and friends.

Sang was involved in a an accident at Mulot in Bomet on Saturday after attending a prayer rally at Bomet. The rally was also attended by Deputy Prime minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto.

“Mulot is Kass FM stronghold and while I was greeting my listeners I lost control while alighting and fell down as I was sitting on top of the vehicle,” Mr sang narrated, adding that the accident occurred during the day.

He said that he had been operated on the left arm that had sustained the injury and was responding well to medications.

Mr sang was admitted at the hospital's memorial wing on Saturday at 10pm .

Sang is among six of the suspects that International Criminal Court prosecutor Luis-Moreno Ocampo says bear the greatest responsibility for the post-election violence.

Others are Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, Eldoret North MP William Ruto, former Cabinet minister Henry Kosgey, head of the Public Service Francis Muthaura and former police commissioner Hussein Ali.
