Prime Minister Raila Odinga is scheduled to address campaign rallies for Orange Democratic Movement candidates in Ikolomani and Kamukunji next week.

On Sunday, Mr Odinga will lead ODM leaders including his deputy Musalia Mudavadi and MPs from Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia and Vihiga Counties and from other parts of the country in wooing Ikolomani voters.

"The Prime Minister and the entire ODM team will be in Ikolomani Constituency to drum up support for the party’s candidate for the vacant seat, Benard Shinali," said ODM Executive Director Janet Ongera in a statement Friday.

Mr Shinali successfully filed a petition challenging the election of former area MP Boni Khalwale, who has represented the area since 2002.

On Tuesday, the PM will be in Kamukunji constituency where he is expected to open the ultra modern Grand Royal Hotel in Eastleigh at 10am.

He will later attend a leaders’ meeting at the hotel before addressing a rally. ODM has fielded Jonny Ibrahim to fight it out with Yusuf Hassan of the PNU Alliance, among others.

The seat fell vacant after a court nullified the election of Simon Mbugua through a poll petititon.

Mr Odinga is also scheduled to attend the burial of Alphonse Mulama at Kongoni Farm, Likuyani District in Kakamega County. He is the father in-law to Local Government minister Musalia Mudavadi.

Earlier, he is expected at the funeral of Michael Sang at Cheborgei Farm in Kipkaren, Nandi County.
