Mudavadi calls for peaceful polls

Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi has urged Kenyans to remain peaceful during the election period.

Mr Mudavadi urged Kenyans to avoid a repeat of the 2007/8 violence which cost many lives and destroyed property.

Speaking in Busia county on Sunday, Mr Mudavadi said his government would ensure that all Kenyans lived in harmony.

"I appeal to all those eyeing leadership positions not to use their campaigns to divide Kenyans and use violence but conduct peaceful and mature campaigns in all corners of the country,” he said.

On the ongoing teachers strike, the deputy Prime Minister called on teachers and government officials to find a quick solution so that exam candidates are not affected.

β€œLet all the stake holders find a fast resolution to this impasse so that those children preparing for the exams are given adequate time and conducive atmosphere to do so,” he said.

Mr Mudavadi ended his two-day campaign in Busia County on Sunday.
