Uhuru: No deal with Ruto yet

Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto have not reached a pre-election deal after all November 27, 2012

Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto have not reached a pre-election deal after all.

Mr Kenyatta's spokesman Munyori Buku retracted an earlier statement announcing the deal terming it "inaccurate".

"The fact is that negotiations are still going on and when a deal is reached, it will be the prerogative of the party principals to announce it," he said.

Mr Buku, however, said the joint rally scheduled for Sunday at the Afraha Grounds in Nakuru will go ahead as planned.

Mr Kenyatta and Mr Ruto have indicated they will contest the next elections under a joint ticket and have been working to bring their respective parties- The National Alliance (TNA) and the United Republican Party (URP)- together in a coalition arrangement.
