Raila deserves benefits, says Wetangula

The Senate Minority Leader Moses Wetangula has said former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is entitled to retirement benefits and respect.

Mr Wetangula who is also Bungoma County senator said like any other principal and public servant, Mr Odinga deserved to be treated with respect.

“Just like any other Kenyan, the former PM deserves benefits for the services he rendered for this country,” he said.

The PM has been embroiled in controversy over his security detail, and has been asked to return six government vehicles. Mr Odinga has also been barred from accessing some VIP areas in airports.

“This issue should not be a subject of debate by MPs,” said the senator while speaking Sunday during a fundraising at Kiamuturi ACK church in Mathioya, Murang’a County even as he announced his bid for the presidency in 2017 and asked Central region for support. “Western has always supported Central and its time to return the favour,” he said.

Other MPs who accompanied the senator included Mr Jared K’opiyo (Awendo), Mr Raphael Otaro (Rurambi), Kapenguria’s Samuel Moroto, Mr James Ekomwa (Turkana) , Kiminini’s Christopher Wamalwa and the host Mr Clement Wambugu (Mathioya).
