Common ground
It is instructive that before the ODM party meeting, Lands minister James Orengo had hosted Mr Ruto and other key leaders in an effort to repair fractured relations and find common ground.
As the ODM meetings were taking place, key figures around President Kibaki, including public service head Francis Muthaura and some selected security chiefs and permanent secretaries, were having their own strategy sessions. In the end, political expediency prevailed, and Mr Moreno-Ocampo came away empty-handed.

The government should move with zeal to implement and conclude the recommendations of the Waki commission. The Kenyan sons and daughters on the commission did a fantastic job and our leaders should move with speed to justify resources spent on the commission. This was unlike other commissions which seemed to have fleeced tax payers only to please their local “colonial” masters.

As a country, we have an unbelievable magnitude of self-delusion. The principals didn't elect their allies - we did. We overwhelmingly voted for the PEV suspects. As far as am concerned - the Principals are just hapless puppets playing in our theatre which we long lost control of. We should work to regain this control. And the primary steps include; recognizing our own sovereignty, embracing all communities and accepting that all Kenyans should be equal, regardless of how we vote. Only then shall we have achieved the elusive revolution we always talk of.

If they don't want the ICC, they should have been serious, fired Wako and implemented a proper tribunal. But that cannot happen.. because we are led by a joker (Kibaki). To say Kibaki has been a severe disappointment is deep understatement. When it can be argued that you are worse than Moi, then you have serious problems. The government is not acting in the interest of Kenyans but to save the skin of a few individuals.
