President hopeful of new era
President Kibaki on Wednesday exuded confidence that Kenya would achieve a new constitution following the unveiling of the draft document on Tuesday.
He said the country had a unique opportunity to transform itself through the new document which should not be missed.
Speaking during a pass out parade at Recruits Training School in Eldoret, President Kibaki called on Kenyans to be sober in discussing the draft constitution saying any partisan interest should be kept away from the process.
He said people should read the published document carefully and submit their views.
“I wish to point out that our country has a unique opportunity to transform itself through a new constitutional dispensation through a draft that has been published,” the Head of State said.
He added that: “I am confident that the country shall achieve the nescesarry consensus that will pave the way for a new constitution.”
President Kibaki said Kenya was greater that any individual and urged Kenyans to agree on a document that unifies the nation and guarantees democracy.
