Bigwigs to steer law talks

The Parliamentary Select Committee on the Review of the Constitution that is to reach consensus on the document is composed of political bigwigs from across political divide.

It is chaired by Mandera Central MP Abdikadir Mohamed with Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba as vice-chairman and has 14 members from the PNU coalition and 13 from ODM.

Deputy prime ministers Uhuru Kenyatta and Musalia Mudavadi, Narc-Kenya chairperson Martha Karua, Agriculture Minister William Ruto, Justice’s Mutula Kilonzo and Cabinet colleagues Moses Wetang’ula, Charity Ngilu and Najib Balala are also members.

Assistant minister

Others are James Orengo, Sally Kosgei, assistant ministers David Musila, Joseph Nkaissery, Peter Munya, Mwangi Kiunjuri, MPs Danson Mungatana, Amina Abdalla, Kambi Kazungu, Ekwee Ethuro, Wilfred Ombui, Jeremiah Kioni, Isaac Ruto, Ganya Chachu, Sophia Abdi and Millie Odhiambo.

Trade assistant minister Omingo Magara, who lost an election petition for his South Mugirango parliamentary seat last year is also a member.
