Parliament’s committee on Justice and Legal Affairs on Tuesday failed to meet to pick appointees to lead the country’s crusade against corruption.
The meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday, next week, after some of the members of the committee failed to turn up.
A committee member said they did not discuss the nominees because some of the documents requested from the advisory board had not been presented.
The House team was to discuss the nomination of lawyer Patrick Lumumba to be the director of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission.
Vetted
Two other nominees for the assistant director posts, Mr Pravin Bowry and Prof Jane Onsongo, were to be vetted by the House committee before their names were tabled for adoption in the House.
Dr Lumumba has already been cleared by the Law Society of Kenya and the Registrar of Political Parties as being fit to head the anti-graft agency.
Parliament will endorse or reject the names, based on the persuasion of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee.
