Key presidential aspirants pitch tent in various counties this weekend in search of support ahead of next year’s General Election.

Prime Minister Raila Odinga is expected to lead ODM campaigns for Kajiado North Parliamentary by-elections from 10am.

He is to conduct road shows through Park Place, Ongata Rongai, Kiserian, Matasia, Ngong, Bul Bul and later hold a public rally at Kibiko.

ODM has nominated Mr Peter ole Mositet for the by-election, which was occasioned by the death of Internal Security Minister George Saitoti in June.

On Sunday, the PM will attend an Idd Baraza in Mombasa and later return to Nairobi in preparation for a three-day visit of Turkana beginning Tuesday.

Kenya National Congress presidential hopeful Peter Kenneth is expected in Mashuru in Kajiado North to campaign for the party’s candidate Peter Munene.

Of the three constituencies where by-elections are to be held on September 17, it is Kajiado North where major fireworks are expected as parties battle for the seat.

Mr Moses ole Sakuda is vying on a TNA ticket, David Parseina (URP), Ruth Ekeseni (Conservative Party), Paul Gichinga (Kanu), Maurice Wakaba (Narc-Kenya), Anthony Keen (PNU), Salaon Kashorda (UDF), Livingstone Sani (Agano) and Solomon Kinyanjui (Wiper). The by-elections are to be also held in Ndhiwa and Kangema constituencies.

on Sunday, Mr Kenneth will be in Bamburi, Mombasa, before winding up his Coast’s campaigns by touring Mtwapa.

Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka of the Wiper Democratic Movement and Eldoret North MP William Ruto of URP are expected to share a podium at the installation of Kalenjin Council of Elders chairman Joseah Sang in Kericho County on Saturday.

On his part, United Democratic Movement leader Musalia Mudavadi is scheduled to tour Mt Elgon on Saturday.

He will address the public at Cheptais, Kopson and attend the Friends Church Yearly Meeting at Kimalewa. He will also visit Kapsokwony and Kaptama.On Sunday, Mr Mudavadi is to will hold consultations with elders from Trans Nzoia County.

New Ford-Kenya contender Eugene Wamalwa will pitch tent in Thika today and Othaya in Nyeri on Sunday.

Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua’s campaign team said she would be taking a break this weekend. Ms Karua was on Friday feted by women from the East Africa Community, who offered to contribute to her campaign kitty.
