Central unity call baseless, says Karua

Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua has dismissed calls by some Central Province MPs urging presidential aspirants from the region to unite to ensure that one of their own is elected the president come 2012.

She said she would go for the presidency and termed the calls “baseless”.

Ms Karua said those clamouring for the region to vote as block had only a vote each, while the power to choose leaders rested with the electorate.

Continue selling

The Gichugu MP said that she would continue selling her party policies to the electorate in Central Province, and in all parts of the country.

Speaking during the opening of Narc-Kenya offices in Narok town on Monday, Ms Karua advised wananchi not to sell their voters cards.

She asked them to use the documents to elect development-conscious leaders who would champion their interests.

The former Justice Minister also warned the youth against being misused by selfish politicians to cause violence.

She challenged them to vote out such leaders who are out to divide Kenyans along tribal lines.
