Fresh cracks have emerged in G7 with allies from Coast region threatening to quit over the inclusion of Mvita MP Najib Balala.

Medical Services Assistant Minister Kazungu Kambi said the elevation of Mr Balala in G7 has reduced key members to peripheral roles.

Mr Kambi, who is also the Kaloleni MP said the United Republican Party (URP) coast members including Environment Minister Chirau Ali Mwakwere will quit the party if Mr Balala becomes TNA's key politician at the Coast. Read (Uhuru hosts allies over coalition deal)

Mr Kambi said that Mr Mwakwere will hold a press conference in Nairobi confirming his statement.

“We as Mijikenda leaders will not accept Mr Balala to be the Coast leader in the G7 political pact. We cannot accept to play second fiddle, not anymore,” said Kambi.

Mr Kambi said the Mijikenda community, which constitutes 60 per cent of Coast population will be led by one of their own.

He challenged TNA's Uhuru Kenyatta of URP's William Ruto to pick the coastal region mouth piece from the Mijikenda community.

“They should not assume, because we are supporting them, that they can nominate anybody to be our leader. We can forget about their alliance and move with our people to another party,” he said.

He described Mr Balala as 'self-imposing opportunist’ who was never invited at the G7 because he lacks political clout.

“Who invited Balala?” Where was he when we fought for Uhuru and Ruto against The Hague or when we formed URP?” posed Kambi.
