The Democratic Party of Kenya (DP) has urged voters to elect leaders who will improve their lives and also avoid euphoria of parties.

Speaking on Tuesday in Rombo Oloitokitok, Kajiado South during the launch of aspirants vying for seats in the area on a DP ticket, party leader Joseph Munyao said that by following a party because it is popular will only lead people in choosing the wrong leaders.

“People should not follow euphoria of parties, that time is long gone. We need to have leaders who will serve Kenyans better and also look into parties which have better policies of serving the people,” said Mr Munyao.

He added that DP was the only party which has remained intact with its manifesto being the one which was used to make the Constitution and the Vision 2030.

“We have had many parties come and go but DP party has stood firm and also has policies, which are governing the country. It is a Kenyan party not an ethnical one and aspirants should use the party to vie for seats,” said Mr Munyao.

Aspiring Kajiado County governor Moses Ole Parantai said that DP started in the Maasai land and the community should be proud with the party, which identifies itself with the Maasai and is the only party that has policies that represent Kenyans.

“We have a party which was started by John Keen and President Kibaki among others, whom have been in governance and the Maasai community should feel proud to have a party which identifies with them,” said Mr Parantai.

Aspiring Kajiado South MP John Ole Nangunin said that the Maasai people have decided to have a new leader who will better serve them and who is in a party that will deliver services to its members.
