Ford Kenya’s national executive council meets at the weekend to review a report on previous party elections.

Sirisia MP Moses Wetang’ula, who is eyeing the party chairmanship, said Saturday’s meeting would review reports on why the party failed to hold elections in some regions.

Speaking in Bungoma, Mr Wetang’ula said the party had set up a committee of elders to make recommendations on branches that did not hold grassroots elections and those that reported anomalies.

“Branches like Bumula, Kilgoris and Budalang’i failed to hold elections because of the confusion. We need to come up with a way forward,” said Mr Wetang’ula.

The committee headed by former Cabinet minister Burudi Nabwera was also tasked with reconciling party leaders and members.

Mr Wetang’ula said the meeting will not set dates for grassroots elections, but will map the way forward after hearing the report.

“After we agree on how branches that did not hold elections should proceed, we will then fix dates for national elections,” he said.
