G7 to file a censure motion against Raila

The G7 Alliance is set to file a censure motion against Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Parliament over the alleged loss of Kazi kwa Vijana funds.
The motion, to be filed by Saboti MP Eugene Wamalwa, is calculated to push the PM to step aside to pave way for investigations in what PNU MPs allege massive loss of KKV funds under Mr Odinga’s watch.
Some MPs said that they could not keep quiet about the matter unless the PM’s office furnishes them with relevant information on utilisation of the money.
Mr Wamalwa, however, was quick to explain that the motion was not targeting the PM, but was meant to end corruption in the government.
“It is not about an individual because the funds were meant to uplift the lives of ordinary youth. The motion would seek explanation on how the money was lost,” the Saboti MP said.
The move to censure Mr Odinga will heighten the differences between PNU and ODM over the issue.
The PM alleges that his critics are using the issue to spoil his name and bring him down but he added that they would not succeed.
he World Bank has reviewed the funds it gave for the Kenya Youth Empowerment Programme, and found out that some money had been misappropriated.
It however said the report, which requires government clarification, was an interim one and not final.
ODM MPs have rallied behind Mr Odinga, warning that he should not be held responsible for the money.
On Sunday, deputy PM Musalia Mudavadi jumped to the PM’s defense arguing that it was too early to incriminate his office over the funds.
He added that the report by the WB would have to be validated.
