Henry Kosgey back in Cabinet

President Kibaki has announced the return of Henry Kosgey to the Cabinet as Minister for Industrialisation.

A short statement from the Presidential Press Service said: "President Kibaki has today re-appointed Henry Kosgey into the Cabinet."

The PPS despatch said Mr Kosgey will resume his duties at the ministry of Industrialisation with "immediate effect".

The Tinderet MP, who is also the national chairman of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), was removed from the Cabinet when he was charged with abuse of office over importation of overage vehicles. The charges were eventually dismissed by court last month.

Mr Kosgey's return to the Cabinet comes only two weeks after his party leader, Prime Minister Raila Odinga hinted as much in an interview with the Sunday Nation (READ: Raila - ‘Bring me down and kill the reform dream’.

His return to the Cabinet is the latest in a string of good news for the Tinderet MP since January when the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague declined to confirm charges against him arising from Kenya's 2007/2008 post election violence.
