Presidential aspirant Eugene Wamalwa has restated he will support Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi if the latter clinches the Jubilee Alliance presidential ticket.

Mr Wamalwa said it is only then that he can renounce his ambition to become the fourth president of Kenya.

“I wish Mr Mudavadi well and he can count on my support if he becomes the Jubilee Alliance flag bearer," he said when he unveiled the New Ford Kenya national elections board in Nairobi Tuesday.

"I have also asked him to give me the same (support) and that’s my promise as brothers from the same region."

Mr Wamalwa, who is the Justice minister, noted his party's nominations will be held on January 5.

He was accompanied by Nominated MP Musikari Kombo and former minister Kipruto arap Kirwa among others party members.

The Jubilee Alliance brings together Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta's The National Alliance (TNA), Eldoret North MP William Ruto's The United Republican Party (URP) and Mr Mudavadi's United Democratic Forum (UDF).

Mr Kenyatta and Mr Mudavadi will battle it out for the Alliance's ticket while Mr Ruto is virtually assured of the deputy president slot.

Last week, Mr Wamalwa signed a pre-election deal with four other parties including Kanu, Federal Party of Kenya, New Vision Party, Kadu Asili and Shirikisho.

The Saboti MP has said he will seek the Pambazuko coalition's nod to contest the presidency. He is poised to battle it out for with FPK's Cyrus Jirongo.

Pambazuko means a new beginning.

Mr Wamalwa said by entering into the pre-election pact with like-minded parties, he was sending the message that he was in the presidential race to the end.

"People have been asking whether I am joining the first or the second horse, well I am in the presidential race to the end and I will not be anyone's running mate or even take up the seat of the Speaker,” he said.

The Saboti MP said the country was ready for economic take off, especially with the discovery of precious minerals and all that is needed is leadership.

Mr Jirongo said his main leadership agenda would be to fix the country's security and deal with inequality.
