Party of Action (POA) presidential hopeful Raphael Tuju on Sunday hinted that he was ready to join any political alliance as long as it was not formed along tribal lines.

“There must be another way out for the sake of peace in this country, which allows me to work with any alliance as long as it is not tribally instigated” he said.

While fielding questions from journalists, the presidential hopeful criticised the government’s ignorance on economic development and challenged presidential candidates to prioritize youth economic empowerment in their campaigns.

“It is painful that most Kenyan youths lack jobs while huge amounts of money are being spent in political campaigns”, he said after attending a church service at the Jubilee Christian Church in Kisumu on Sunday.

The aspirant stated that the direction political alliances are taking of one tribe against many others is a cause for concern and termed it as retrogressive.

“My worry is not the composition of the alliances but the resultant effect of these joint forces on the peace of the country should any of them lose in the elections,” warned the Rarieda MP.

He further urged Kenyan leaders to embrace maturity in politics and keep away from the politics of “us against them”.

The POA leader noted that the government’s ignorance on key development issues was to blame for the formation of secession groups like the Mombasa Republican Council.

He asked the people of Kisumu to live in peace and to accept diversity of political ideology and condemned the rise of terror gangs.

“The two groups that I hear are fighting in Kisumu should not be at all,” said Mr Tuju, in reference to ‘China and America’ warring groups that have caused an uproar in the town over the control of local businesses.

Tuju added that it is the responsibility of the political leaders to focus on creation of employment and jobs fitting the demands of the youth on Monday.

“Our leaders should look into issues of youth employment seriously and should nurture the talents in the youth for economic development”, he said.
