Ten Members of Parliament drawn from ODM and PNU on Sunday demanded that legislators meet outside Parliament to build consensus over the constitution review.

Led by Agriculture minister William Ruto, the legislators said that there were some of their colleagues who were keen on scuttling the process by insisting that contentious issues be included in the final draft.

Agreement

Mr Ruto, along with assistant ministers Kareke Mbiuki, Charles Keter, Aden Duale, Eugene Wamalwa and Mohammed Ali, said there was need to arrive at an agreement first instead of disagreeing on the floor of the House.

MPs Silas Muriuki, Mithika Linturi, Francis Baya and Cyrus Jirongo, who were also present, said disunity among legislators would derail the constitution.

Speaking during a fundraiser in aid of Athi Catholic parish in Igembe South, the leaders said the current document would fail at the referendum because it was still contentious.

Ruto and his team are PNU as of yesterday, what then can they bring to ODM? Ruto thinks that if he works with PNU through State house he can get anywhere! Watch what the Kalenjins will do to them. Majority if not all will fall on the wayside. Now we know that Ruto was involved with other teams in the maize saga and for sure he had to be saved from imminent investigations.

Whatever consensus these MPs are seeking must NOT be of stripping the proposed senate power. The Senate Must have full power as the parliament. Furthermore, it should have full legislative power to check both powers of the executive and that of the parliament. That is the only to stop these MPS paying themselves with salaries unheard of the world over, while the mwananchi continue to suffer in abject poverty! Watch out for what consensus they are looking for.

HEHEHE...Ruto you can have fun. Get your cohoots and change it. You can have your meeting but that document is super. Kenyans will never ever get one like it if they let it go. To be honest even if mps do not agree- that document will pass at referendum with flying colours. These MPS are being deluded. If senate is more powerful, they have the right to contest and become senators!!! What is itching them??

Ruto can easily take on any path of opinion and strongly appeal to people that he is in the right path, but as long as he does not concure with his party leadership.PNU is enjoying un expected support from ODM of Ruto.Pnu should make good use of that.ODM has take a very good position to allow its party deputy leader do as he wishes that is democracy too.have fun men!
