Mudavadi: I will work with Uhuru

Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi on Friday said he is ready to work with Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta.

He dismissed press reports that his United Democratic Forum (UDF) was unhappy with Mr Kenyatta for luring its supporters into The National Alliance (TNA).

“Those statements were not issued by me but were a commentary by someone from our office. That was very unfortunate because Kenyans are free to belong to any party,”Mr Mudavadi said.

The DPM spoke at the Oak Place Hotel in Embu where he met members of the Matatu Owners Association Council.

Mr Mudavadi’s private secretary, Mr Kibisu Kabatesi, said in a press statement that TNA was using money to lure UDF supporters to defect.

Manyatta MP Emilio Kathuri asked Mr Mudavadi to work closely with Mr Kenyatta.

“I was shocked when this morning we read a story in the press. We want you to explain to us whether you are at war with your colleague,” Mr Kathuri said.

Mr Mudavadi promised that UDF will work with the matatu owners to restructure the industry and fight corruption.

“Matatu owners chairman Simon Kimutai demanded a review of traffic and transport laws to protect investors.
