President Mwai Kibaki on Friday at his Harambee House office witnessed the swearing-in of two newly appointed Cabinet Ministers and an Assistant Minister.

The swearing-in of the new Provincial Administration and Internal Security Minister Katoo ole Metito, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Ababu Namwamba and Assistant minister John Mbadi of the Office of the Prime Minister was conducted by the acting Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet, Mr Francis Kimemia.

Congratulating the new ministers and assistant minister, President Kibaki emphasised on the need for them to uphold collective responsibility in discharging their duties.

The President said their appointment would fill in the gaps in Government.

In this regard, President Kibaki advised them to serve Kenyans diligently and without fear or favour, expressing optimism that the appointment of the three would boost Government’s effort to provide services to wananchi.

“We have so far done well in providing services to Kenyans and we intend to continue and do even better,” President Kibaki said.

Present during the swearing-in ceremony were Gender, Children and Social Development Minister Naomi Shaaban, Attorney-General Githu Muigai and the families of the new Cabinet ministers and assistant minister.
