ODM sets dates for primaries

What you need to know:

  • The party has also reduced nomination fees following an outcry from prospective candidates.
  • The party presidential aspirant will pay Sh1 million, down from the Sh2 million previously set.
  • Nomination fees for those seeking gubernatorial seats have been left unchanged at Sh300,000.

The Orange Democratic Movement will choose its nominees for all political posts between December 4 and 6.

Voting will be by universal suffrage and through secret ballot. (READ: Raila promises free and fair nominations)

The party has also reduced nomination fees following an outcry from prospective candidates.

The party presidential aspirant will pay Sh1 million, down from the Sh2 million previously set.

Nomination fees for those seeking gubernatorial seats have been left unchanged at Sh300,000.

Party members planning to run for senator will now pay Sh200,000, down from Sh250,000 while parliamentary and women representative aspirants will pay Sh100,000.

While locking out candidates without post-secondary certificates, ODM members eyeing county representative seats will now pay Sh20,000 instead of the previous Sh50,000.
