Eldoret North MP William Ruto has dared the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to debate in Parliament the list of its East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) nominees.

Mr Ruto said the list will be shot down at the floor of the House if ODM presents it in its current state.

“We want to solve the situation amicably. We don’t want controversies but if they don’t correct that list, then we will meet in Parliament,” Mr Ruto said.

Speaking at a public rally in Mauche, Molo Constituency, Mr Ruto said that ODM benefited from the original list, therefore, his group should have been consulted.

Accompanied by 10 MPs, Ruto said that it was their Constitutional right to nominate Legislators to EALA. "The law is very clear and we want what belongs to us," he said.

“They kicked us out but they are now using our names because they will benefit. We left that party but they should know that we have our rights there because we built it,” he added.

Ruto, who addressed a series of public rallies in Nakuru County over the weekend accused PM Raila Odinga of double standards.

He said that the PM should be prepared for defeat noting that G-7 will win the General Election.

Moyale MP Mohammed Ali said PM Odinga no longer held majority in Parliament following the departures of Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi and Mr William Ruto from the party.

“He is now a minority but we are giving him until Tuesday to bring the correct list,” he said.

ODM, which has five slots in the regional assembly, submitted nine names. Those nominated are allies of Mr Odinga. On its part, PNU submitted 12 names.

Mr Ali further claimed that Mau forest evictees had been dumped at Chemusian Farm in Eldoret where the government acquired alternative land for them.

He urged Lands Minister James Orengo to remove the caveat placed on title deeds in Mau saying that it was illegal and unfair.

“The title deeds are legal documents and these people have a right to it,” he said.
