Lands minister James Orengo has dared Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi and Eldoret North MP William Ruto to write to the House Speaker, notifying him that they are no longer ODM members.

He said records in Parliament up to now show that Mr Ruto and Mr Mudavadi are still members of ODM and still fight for positions in the august House using the party.

Mr Orengo told them to also write to the Registrar of Political Parties, informing her that they had quit ODM, then seek fresh mandate from their constituents.

Declaring publicly

“The law says one cannot belong to more than one party and instead of just declaring publicly, they should be man enough to write to the Speaker and Registrar of Political Parties, and make it official that they have actually quit,” he said.

The Ugenya MP asked House Speaker Kenneth Marende and Lucy Ndung’u to take action against the former ODM members if they do not officially make their positions clear.

He spoke in Gem District during a homecoming party for government chief whip Jakoyo Midiwo.

“If the Speaker and Registrar of Political Parties take the appropriate action, then Mudavadi will cease to be Deputy Prime Minister and will also lose his membership for Sabatia,” said Mr Orengo.

He said the two should be brave enough and seek fresh mandate from their constituents.
