Parliament to await KAA jobs report

The fate of candidates chosen to replace Mr George Muhoho at the helm of Kenya Airports Authority will be known next Tuesday.

The finer details of the recruitment will be presented to Parliament’s Committee on Transport on this day.

The decision was made yesterday as the House committee met KAA board chairman Martin Wambora and Mr Muhoho, the current managing director, over complaints of irregularities in the recruitment.

The chairman of the team, Mr David Were (Matungu MP), asked for details of all the 120 applicants for the job to be tabled before the committee.

Also to be tabled are the score-sheets of the final interviews for the eight short-listed candidates and the three names to be forwarded to the Minister of Transport for appointment.

There is no substantive Transport minister after Mr Chirau Ali Mwakwere left the docket last month following nullification of his election to Parliament.

Assistant minister Harun Mwau has been holding fort, although he has not been appointed in an acting capacity.

The committee raised queries about the transparency of the recruitment, the role of Mr Muhoho and why the parastatal recruited from outside when there were competent general managers at KAA.
