Poll deal will bring peace, says Ruto

URP presidential aspirant William Ruto on Friday said he had chosen to work with TNA to bring stability in the country after the post-election violence in 2008.

Mr Ruto rallied Rift Valley voters behind the coalition as preparations for Sunday’s joint TNA-URP rally in Nakuru got into top gear.

Speaking at 64 Stadium in Eldoret during a rally, Mr Ruto said TNA-URP government would ensure stability in the country.

“We want to build a nation that is united, peaceful so that we develop and give the youths and women opportunities to develop the economy,” said the URP leader.

At the same time, the Eldoret North MP dismissed the National Vision Party, Ford-Kenya and UDM political pact, saying it was headed nowhere.

“The TNA-URP  coalition is to form the next government, others are making  coalition for opposition  while others are making coalitions that are headed nowhere,” said Mr Ruto.

He said that the focus of their coalition was to win the presidency in the first round. He asked Kenyans to go for leaders who would move the country forward.

“Our government will create a kitty that will give loans to the youth to start income generating activities instead of waiting for employment,” said Mr Ruto.

He accused aid agency USAid of financing youths in the North Rift to cause chaos.

“They have been financing youths in  Rift valley to create conflict instead of solving conflicts,” said Mr Ruto.

The Eldoret North MP said the differences among communities in Rift Vally had been instigated by some politicians for selfish gain.

“We want to prove to the world including the ICC that these two communities have no problem and can work together for the benefit of the country,” he said.

Booming business

At the same time, matatu operators did booming business as their vehicles were hired to ferry people to the venue of Sunday’s rally.

“We are all set for the Sunday meeting and preparations including transporting people to Nakuru and other logistical arrangements are in top gear,” said Mr Isaac Maiyo, Eldoret North CDF chairman.

He went on: “We are going to Nakuru with one message of unity and support for the TNA-URP alliance ahead of the March 4 general election.”
