Raila launches campaign website

Prime Minister Raila Odinga has launched his official presidential campaign website setting the stage for the planned unveiling of his official campaigns expected in weeks.
The website launch is part of a cocktail of activities drawn in the PM’s campaign diary that will culminate in the grand launch of his campaigns.
This Friday, the PM’s campaign secretariat has organised a dinner to raise funds which will be followed by a series of campaign activities in the Rift Valley and a major rally in Nakuru on Saturday to commemorate these year’s Saba Saba day.
Mr Odinga said that his campaign team will make good use of the technological development that has ushered in the new era of trending so as to reach out to Kenyans all over the world.
He said the interactive website designed by his campaign secretariat will be a forum to engage supporters from time to time and share ideas and views on the campaigns.
The public can access the website by visiting the link www.raila-odinga.com or get campaign tidbits on the presidential candidate by registering through a campaign short code 2033 at a fee.
“I shall launch my Presidential campaign officially at a later date, but in the meantime I am keen to expand the opportunity for dialogue with my fellow citizens, “the PM said.
Raila pledged a religious commitment to the constitution if elected telling off his critics who were watering down his pro reforms campaign plans.
He warned the public to be careful not to entrust the country’s leadership on a caliber of politicians who cannot guarantee full implementation of Kenya’s new constitution.
“The forces of status quo are telling us that what matters is that we have a new constitution, it does not matter how it came and we should trust anybody with it,” said Mr Odinga.
About 20 MPs including seven cabinet ministers attended the event at the Inter Continental hotel.
The PM’s chief campaign manager James Ongwae said that his team was working on an elaborate campaign plans to ensure the ODM candidate emerged victorious in the coming elections.
“By launching this website we are making a bold statement that the PM is cognizant of the technological development and giving a hint of where our campaigns are headed,” Mr Ongwae said.
Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba who also spoke at the launch said that the PM’s campaign would be focused on the reform agenda as his government would guarantee Kenyans an uncompromised implementation of the constitution.
“We have a gem of a candidate a distinguished warrior, a warrior of liberty, equity and justice in Raila Odinga,” Namwamba said.
In attendance were cabinet ministers William ole Ntimama, James Orengo, Otieno Kajwang, Chris Obure, Amason Kingi and Fred Gumo.
ODM chairman Henry Kosgey and Prime Minister’s wife Ida Odinga were also present.
