Prime Minister Raila Odinga has hit out at Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto's alliance.

Mr Odinga said Mr Kenyatta and Mr Ruto's pre-election deal was a clear indication the two were not confident of capturing State House individually.

"These alliances that we are seeing is because no one is assured of winning the election and they (Kenyatta and Ruto) need a strategy to stop the ODM party, but we guarantee them that we are in the race to the end," said Mr Odinga during a tour of Teso, Busia County Friday to popularise his candidature for the presidency.

He was accompanied by ministers Paul Otuoma, Fred Gumo, Henry Kosgey and former Attorney General Amos Wako.

The Premier said his rivals could not be trusted to implement the Constitution since they opposed it during the referendum.

"We cannot trust the implementation of the new Constitution to the people who were on the forefront of rejecting the same document. They cannot implement the reforms that they were against,” said Mr Odinga.

He said Kenyans were now guaranteed a free and fair General Election after the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ironed out issues that could have caused chaotic polls. The PM said the commission had placed mechanisms to prevent rigging.

"We have confidence that the new commission will deliver a free and transparent election unlike the previous one. This time there will not be room for error,” he said.

He asked the electorate to ensure that they register as voters in order to have a say in the type of leadership needed in the country.

Mr Odinga received defectors from rival political parties among them Busia County URP treasurer John Imoite and said that ODM was still the party to beat in the next election.
