Eldoret North MP William Ruto has appealed for calm regardless of a ruling by the International Criminal Court on whether to confirm or drop the charges of crimes against humanity levelled against the Ocampo Six.

Mr Ruto, in a press conference on Thursday, said there was no reason for anxiety.

He urged Kenyans to promote integration and cohesion.

He said he expects the wheels of justice to be reasonable and fair.

Mr Ruto's appeal comes just days before the ICC releases its verdict on six Kenyan suspects, including Ruto, alleged to have planned, sponsored and executed the chaos in which 1,133 people were killed and 650,000 uprooted from their homes.

The others are Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kentatta, Tinderet MP Henry Kosgey, Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura, radio presenter Joshua arap Sang and Postmaster-General Hussein Ali.

Both Mr Kenyatta and Mr Ruto have insisted they would be in the race for the top seat irrespective of what The Hague court rules. (READ: Uhuru and Ruto: ICC ruling will not stop us )
