Ruto wants ODM Eala seats shared

The United Republican Party must get a share of the MPs to be sent to the regional Parliament from the Orange party, Eldoret North MP William Ruto has said.

He said without a piece of the nominated MPs to the East Africa Legislative Assembly (Eala), URP would shoot down the list to be proposed by the Orange Democratic Movement.

Speaking in Nairobi on Sunday, Mr Ruto claimed that rebel ODM MPs were more than those who were still in the mainstream party and they must reach a consensus or they both lose.

Fifty-fifty basis

“We were not ‘invitees’ in ODM. We created it. We have to sit down and decide or we forget about the whole issue,” he said during a harambee (fundraising) in aid of four medicine students from Dujis Constituency.

“We don’t want to know if United Democratic Forum of Musalia Mudavadi will demand their share but URP will do so even possible on a fifty-fifty basis,” he said.

Dujis MP Aden Duale, Communication Minister Samuel Pogishio and Belgut MP Charles Keter supported the issue. About 65 aspirants want to be considered for the job through ODM.
