Deputy President William Ruto has asked governors and other county leaders to use devolved resources properly.

Mr Ruto on Sunday asked the county bosses to draw budgets that will uplift the lives of Kenyan and develop the country.

“I am asking county governments to be responsible with resources that have been given to them because they have a clear mandate to fulfil,’’ he said during a Sunday service at Kimbo All Nations Gospel Church in Githurai.

He called on county assemblies to work closely with county executives to ensure their respective budgets reflect the wishes of the people.

The deputy president reassured Kenyans that Jubilee government would serve them equally irrespective of their political affiliations.

He emphasized that no Kenyan would be discriminated against on the basis of tribe, religion or colour.

“Rest assured that regardless of the party you voted for in the previous election, this government will serve you because you are a Kenyan,’’ he said.

The government, he said, was committed to fulfil all the pledges it made during campaigns.

The Deputy President, who was accompanied by his wife Rachel, stressed the need for Kenyans to maintain peace and work together in building the nation.

He said security was paramount, adding that the government was fast-tracking police reforms to enable the law enforcement agents work effectively.

On his part, President Kenyatta thanked Christians for praying for him and his government.

Speaking at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Parklands, Nairobi, he urged Kenyans to pray for peace and unity.
