Search for polls team chief executive starts

The electoral commission has advertised for the position of a chief executive and two deputies.

The chief executive position in the Interim Electoral Boundaries Commission is currently held by Mr James Oswago in an acting capacity.

In an advertisement placed in the media on Tuesday, commission chairman Isaack Hassan said applications should reach him before January 10 next year.

It further said the secretary will hold office for a term of five years but shall be eligible for re-appointment for another five years.

The CEO shall ensure the implementation of the commission’s decisions, policies and programmes.

“The CEO/secretary will provide requisite leadership to ensure the commission attains high level of professionalism and ethical standards in its entire mandate of policies and programmes,” the advertisement read.

According to the advert, said the commission was looking for a candidate who has at least five years experience at management level.

The first deputy will be in charge of operations. These include direct supervision of voter registration, electoral operations, voter education, political party liaison and other related activities. They will also coordinate and develop the electoral calendar and manage its execution.

The second deputy will be in charge of support services.

Their duties will entail supervision of the support functions of the commission like human resources, financial services, legal, information technology and research.

The two deputies will serve for a renewable term of five years.

Applicants must be cleared by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption, CID, Kenya Revenue Authority, Higher Education Loans Board and National Security and Intelligence Service.
