Two of the Ocampo Six organised eight preparatory meetings to plan attacks in Naivasha and Nakuru, the prosecution claimed.

The ICC prosecution alleged Deputy Prime Minister and Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura organised the meetings, were held at State House, Nairobi Members’ Club, former Internal Security minister John Michuki’s office, Blue Post Hotel, Blue Springs Hotel and Nakuru.

Purchasing weapons

According to Ms Adesola Adeboyejo, preparatory meetings, recruitment, purchasing and distribution of weapons, orchestrated killing of Mungiki leaders directly involved in the attacks all point to an organisational policy.

“Muthaura and Kenyatta held no less than eight preparatory meetings, which demonstrated that they were meant for retaliation. They discussed logistics such as financing, purchasing weapons,” said Ms Adeboyejo.

According to the prosecution lawyer, witnesses confirmed there were meetings, where Mr Kenyatta is said to have been involved in fundraising for logistics.

One witness claimed that Mr Kenyatta told them that a meeting would be held at the Blue Post Hotel, where landlords would discuss the logistics.

Another witness claimed that Mr Kenyatta and Mr Muthaura were at two meetings in the office of Mr Michuki, where they discussed how to deal with the violence in Kibera and Kisumu. (IN PICTURES: Kenya's blood and tears)

Ms Adeboyejo added that the meetings were corroborated by other witnesses, who claimed that they were used to plan the revenge attacks.

She also said that National Security Intelligence Service reports also confirm that meetings took place.
