Uhuru holds talks with envoys

Kenya's President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday held talks with several foreign envoys who paid him a courtesy call.

The envoys included the Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Liu Guangyuan, Indian High Commissioner to Kenya Sibabrata Tripathi and Ethiopian Ambassador to Kenya Shemsudin Ahmed Roble.

During their talks Mr Kenyatta assured the envoys representing their nations in Kenya that his government will strengthen bilateral relations.

Expressing his gratitude for the messages of goodwill delivered by the envoys, Mr Kenyatta said he looked forward to working closely with all envoys accredited to Kenya.

On her part the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Hua Chunying congratulated Mr Kenyatta on being elected the fourth President of the Republic of Kenya.

She also congratulated Kenyans for holding peaceful and successful elections.

She further said that China regards Kenya as an important development partner in Africa.

The Chinese diplomat noted that China is willing to deepen its cooperation with the new Kenyan Government in order to boost the friendly relations between the two nations for the benefit of the citizens of the two countries.

On their part the Indian High Commissioner to Kenya and the Ethiopian Ambassador expressed readiness of their respective governments to working closely with the new Kenyan Government with a view to further strengthen and deepen the fraternal relations existing between their countries and Kenya.

Mr Kenyatta also received a goodwill message from South Sudan Government which was delivered by the minister in the office of the President Mr Emmanuel LoWilla.

Mr Kenyatta also held talks with Rwandese High Commissioner to Kenya Ambassador Yamina Karitanyi, Burundi Ambassador to Kenya Ezechiel Nibigira, Ugandan High Commissioner to Kenya Ambassador Angelina Wapakhabulo and Tanzanian High Commissioner to Kenya ambassador Batilda Salha Buriani.

The envoys congratulated Mr Kenyatta on his overwhelming victory and pledged commitment of their governments to deepen relations with Kenya.
