Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni on Thursday urged TNA leader Uhuru Kenyatta to honour his agreement with UDF presidential aspirant Musalia Mudavadi.

In an interview with Kass FM, Mr Kioni said: “Uhuru should be a gentleman who walks in the light by being truthful.”

He said many people from Central Province were comfortable with Mudavadi’s candidature “but only a few people led by selfish leaders keen on being elected are pushing Uhuru to vie”.

“The truth will set him free as for four days they sat with William Ruto and agreed to come together and after that they sat down with Mudavadi where he (Uhuru) signed an MoU agreeing to support his presidential bid,” the MP said.

He went on: “They know without Uhuru as their point man, they will never get elected as many have nothing to offer the electorate. These are the hardliners who are busy pushing Uhuru to contest the presidency to salvage their political careers at the behest of national unity and peace.”

The Ndaragwa MP claimed that Mr Kenyatta was afraid of facing delegates since Mr Mudavadi’s popularity was rising, making it hard for the hardliners to accept defeat.

He denied that Mr Mudavadi was a State House “project”, saying one of their rival parties enjoyed services of a director of political affairs who has an office at Harambee House.

UDF, he said, has more than 2,000 delegates in 37 counties.

He said the party joined the Jubilee alliance because their policies were similar and that they wanted to win the election with a landslide. “Without unity in Jubilee, we risk giving Cord and Raila (Odinga) a clear win,” he said.
