Uhuru’s TNA has highest number of listed members

Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta’s The National Alliance has the highest number of registered members.

According to data compiled by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, TNA has 153,352 members.

In the second place is Eldoret North MP William Ruto’s URP, which has 108,124.

In total, 2.7 million Kenyans are registered members of various political parties.

Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s ODM is third with 83,526 while Deputy Premier Musalia Mudavadi’s UDF had registered 83,348 by September 25 when the data was compiled.

Mwangaza Party has the fifth largest number of members at 81,368 while Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Democratic Movement is sixth with 80,645.

Presidential hopeful Martha Karua’s Narc Kenya has registered 64,644 members while Kenya National Congress whose aspirant is Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth has 73,024.

Justice minister Eugene Wamalwa’s New Ford Kenya has registered 37,701 members while Party of Action whose presidential aspirant is former minister Raphael Tuju has enrolled 42,512 people.

Former PS James ole Kiyapi’s Restore and Build Kenya has 32,899 members while Water minister Charity Ngilu’s Narc has enrolled 35,357.

Parties which have registered more than 50,000 members include PNU (79,437), Ford-K (74,008), APK (66,732), GNU (62,253), Conservative Party (61,838), DP (56,336) and Mazingira (51,308).
Kanu, which has seen most of its leaders move to other parties over the last five years, has 43,556 members.

Kaddu, Vipa Progressive Alliance, Kenda, Republican Liberty Party and Party of Hope have not met requirement of existing as political parties.

The Political Parties Act requires that parties have at least 1,000 members in 24 counties.
