Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka has urged politicians aspiring for elective seats in the forthcoming General Election to avoid using irresponsible language that can polarise the country.

Mr Musyoka on Monday said Kenyans must co-exist peacefully, adding that the country must continue to exist after the polls.

He expressed optimism that the forthcoming elections will be peaceful.

“After elections, Kenyans will stay together and will think as Kenyans. We will have an election that is peaceful as Kenyans will never accept bloodshed again,” he said.

The VP said it was important for all Kenyans to combine join forces to propel the country to greater heights of development.

He was speaking at Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) Party office in Nairobi during a meeting with party aspirants for various elective seats drawn from various counties countrywide.

The party leader called on Kenyans to shun ethnicity and treat one another as brothers and sisters.

“Time to bury ethnicity is now; we should emulate the Tanzanians who have more than one tribe but live as one large tribe,” he said.

He urged the electorate to choose leaders with ability to unite all Kenyans, empower them and initiate development in their areas.

Mr Musyoka said Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) was keen on uniting Kenyans and ensuring that the country gets the correct leaders in the next government.

Nominated MP Mohammed Affey said under the leadership of Cord, all tribes—whether small or big— would be given an opportunity to take part in the leadership of the country.

“The leadership of Cord will change the thinking of elections since the small communities will now have a right to vie for the presidency of this country,” he said.

The lawmaker described Cord as an alliance that seeks to insulate people from poverty, adding that time to save Kenyan is now.

Aspirant drawn from various parts of the country who intend to vie for seats on Wiper tickets vowed to support Cord alliance to ensure it wins the polls. (VPPS)
