Presidential aspirant Eugene Wamalwa on Tuesday signed a pre-election deal with four other parties, but they are yet to announce the alliance’s flag-bearer.

However, the New Ford-Kenya leader said he was in the presidential race to the end, and is poised to battle it out for the alliance’s ticket with Federal Party of Kenya Presidential hopeful Cyrus Jirongo, who also announced he was in the race.

The alliance dubbed 'Pambazuko', meaning a new beginning, also includes New Vision Party of former powerful Cabinet minister Nicholas Biwott, Kadu Asili and Shirikisho party.

It was announced that the coalition would come up with a presidential contender and the battle seemed to be shaping up between Mr Wamalwa and Mr Jirongo.

Mr Wamalwa said by entering into the pre-election pact with like-minded parties, he was sending the message that he was in the presidential race to the end.

“People have been asking whether I am joining the first or the second horse, well I am in the presidential race to the end and I will not be anyone’s running mate or even take up the seat of the speaker,” he said.

The Saboti MP said the country was ready for economic take off, especially with the discovery of precious minerals, and all that is needed is leadership.

Mr Jirongo said his main leadership agenda would be to fix the country’s security and deal with inequality, Mr Biwott said his party’s national delegates’ conference would meet and decide whom to support for the presidential ticket.

At the same time, presidential hopeful Peter Kenneth on Tuesday entered into a joint coalition with Mr Raphael Tuju of Party of Action.

The two signed their agreement at Mayfair Centre in Nairobi and vowed to work together for the greater good of all Kenyans.

Mr Kenneth said the coalition gives Kenyans a chance to break from the old guard and a fresh beginning for the prosperity of the country.

Mr Tuju said that they signed a coalition not for the sake of it but because they shared the same values with Mr Kenneth.
