Wanjiru joins race for Nairobi governor seat

Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru has declared her candidature for Nairobi's governor seat.

Ms Wanjiru will seek nomination on an ODM ticket where she will face-off with former Mumias Sugar chief executive Evans Kidero and former Nairobi City Council town clerk Philip Kisia.

The Housing assistant minister announced her candidature while presiding over a Sunday service at her Jesus is Alive Ministry (JIAM).

Ms Wanjiru said she is not afraid of being the only woman in the race.

“I have consulted widely and it is within Gods agenda that I vie for the Nairobi governorship in ODM,” she said.

Ms Wanjiru exuded confidence that she will win the seat, saying she won the Starehe Constituency in difficult circumstances and would also triumph for the gubernatorial seat.
