Kenyan named in Sh26m UN scandal

A Kenyan employee of a United Nations procurement office allegedly directed some $350,000 (about Sh26 million) in contracts to companies linked to her husband, other relatives and friends.

The claim was made by a UN anti-corruption task force whose findings were reported in Tuesday’s edition of The Washington Post.

The Kenyan is also accused of soliciting kickbacks for supplies tenders.

The woman and a colleague were sacked following discovery of the alleged scandal.

The annual report of the UN Procurement Task Force, is due to be presented to the General Assembly on Thursday.
