A senior police officer was among three policemen arrested over the fatal shooting of Othaya CID boss Mr John Nzau on Friday night, last week.
The arrest brings to four the number of police officers who have been arrested in connection with the killing after a police constable was also arrested on Tuesday.
The latest development in the ongoing investigations to unravel the murder of the senior officer indicate that Mr Nzau’s colleagues may have conspired to eliminate the CID boss for undisclosed reasons.
Among those seized on Thursday was a Major Sergeant based at the Chinga Police Station and two CID officers, Nzau’s juniors in Othaya.
The two CID officers were however seized by detectives after they allegedly broke into the late Mr Nzau’s office and stole Sh41,000 from his locker.
“The two officers are not directly connected to the murder but they are under investigations in connection with theft of Sh41,000 from Mr Nzau’s locker,” said an officer who could not be named because he is not authorised to speak to the media.
