Heavy rains raise fear of flooding

Heavy rains have pounded parts of Western Kenya, destroying property and raising fears of floods in Nyando and Budalang’i.

In Nyando, a section of the Muhoroni-Tamu Road was rendered impassable at the weekend following a storm.

Budalang’i residents have asked the government to speed up repair of the Southern and Northern dykes in anticipation of floods.

They said repair work on the dykes was too slow. Residents have identified 41 weak points on the dykes.
