Twenty six people have been questioned in connection with the illegal arms found in Narok early this week.
Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere said investigations into the saga had been intensified to establish if more arms were hidden in different parts of the country.
“We expect to arraign in court more suspects,” he said. “Whoever it is we are going to deal with that person according to the law.” The police chief also said investigations had not indicted any officer or institutions.
Said Mr Iteere: “We want to know where this ammunition came from. Some of them came from our factory but are they the culprits? No. Their duty is to manufacture and sell ammunition but only to the government.”
And the Government spokesman, Dr Alfred Mutua, said five suspects were in custody over the case.
Dr Mutua said police were following crucial leads and urged the public to volunteer any information about other arms to the police.
And a source close to the on-going investigations told the Nation on Thursday that police were following leads about more ammunition being hidden in different parts of the country.
He said security agencies had been informed about the caches in the Coast and Mt Kenya regions. The Coast consignment is reported to contain explosives. Sources said the weapons were being smuggled to Southern Sudan.
