Appeal for help to bring girl’s body from Lebanon

A Mombasa family has asked the government to help it recover the body of a relative who died in Lebanon.
Mrs Margaret Olwande said her niece, Ms Rose Adhiambo Odhiambo, went to Lebanon to work as a househelp last year.
She said the family expected her back home on Tuesday last week, the day they received news that she had died.
“My niece had earlier told me her boss was against her return. That is why we suspect foul play,” said Mrs Olwande.
The aunt said initial reports indicate that Rose fell from a building at her boss’ house.
“A month after she told her boss of her intention to return home, her travelling documents were confiscated but after pleading with her, she got her passport back,” said Mrs Olwande.
The family said they had contacted Rose’s boss and been referred to three mortuaries in Lebanon but could not trace the body.
“A day after we received the news, her employer, Fahab bin Asil, said they planned to send the body to us in three days, but we have lost contact,” said Mrs Olwande.
Rose’s agent Ali Muhammad confirmed the death but could not say how she died. Mr Muhammad said bringing the body to Kenya was delayed because of the holy month of Ramadhan.

(Kenyan Samenya)! You have no idea what you are talking about! The young lady had travelled all the way to Lebanon for work! You don’t know the circumstance of her death! If the parents cannot afford to bring her body back, the government obligation is to try and assist them! I am not surprised with your comment because you are one of those people who have got no moral compass what so ever!

Which foreign countries do you guys talk about. Kenyans have to learn to choose better. Guys are ready to do house work, even in Somali. Then?

It is not, and will never be the duty of the government to bring home dead bodies of Kenyans. The day you take that lane to go to a foreign country, you ought to know how you would be transported back home if death came before you return. if this girl had no enough savings of her own, and her family cannot pay for transportation, then they should ask Lebanese local authority to dispose her. they will gladly do it!

I think our Govt is a let down over this matter, it's so sad that a Kenyan can die in a foreign land and Wetangula is just silent! what a shame.

@KENYAN SAMENYA You must be one of those who have never suffered a loss other wise what will explain your lack of compassion?Do you not think the girl went away to help feed her family She sacrificed home life to do so ratherthan staying at home complaining The Government should intervene and insistthe employer transport her body at his expense after all the"accident"/ occurred on his premesis
