The National Cereals and Produce Board is facing a financial crisis due to debts owed by the government, a senior official has said.

The State owes Sh2.5 billion through the ministries of Agriculture and Special Programmes for the distribution of fertiliser and administration of the Strategic Grain Reserve, said public relations manager Evans Wasike.

“The loss for the current financial year stands at Sh400 million,” he said, adding that the board could not offer services.
