Barclays Kenya wins two regional banking awards

More than 30 countries across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa participate in the Asian Bankers Awards, considered to be one of the most prestigious accolades in the region’s banking industry.
A savings account introduced by Barclays Kenya last year has been named best deposit product in the country.
The Barclays Zidisha Bonus savings account won the accolade at the Asian Banker's International Excellence Awards held in Singapore last week, where Barclays was also named the Best Improved Retail Bank.
Receiving the awards, Barclays Bank of Kenya Consumer Banking Director Zahid Mustafa said the bank would continue to develop innovative products to change the lives of its customers as well as contribute positively to the economy.
“Zidisha has encouraged customers to make more savings by offering interests of up to 10 per cent on deposits, the highest in the market,” Mr Mustafa said.
He said that the uptake of the Zidisha Bonus Savings account, which was launched last year, had exceeded the bank’s initial target by almost three times.
