The Kenya Climate Innovation Centre (CIC) has partnered with Nation media’s The Next Big Thing to identify and provide incubation and financing to Kenyan entrepreneurs.

The Next Big Thing was developed by the Business Daily to host an annual event aimed at identifying investment ideas that have the potential to fuel Kenya’s growth.

Kenya CIC on the other hand provides incubation, capacity building and financing to Kenyan entrepreneurs and small firms developing innovative climate mitigation and adaptation solutions.

The deal would see Kenya CIC assist Business Daily in identifying and mentoring renewable energy businesses.

“This will go a long way in helping local entrepreneurs exploit their full potential as they will receive the necessary resources,” said Nation Media Group’s marketing boss Anne Gitau.

Three finalists in these categories will be provided with incubation services amounting to $30,000 per person.

“In addition to this commitment, Kenya CIC is spending time on the competition through all the stages as well as the cash contribution of $10,000 for The Next Big Thing season 3” said CEO Edward Mungai.
