Real estate company Sultan Palace Development Limited is developing a Sh5 billion beach retreat housing project in Kilifi County.

The development, on 43 acres in Kikambala, is 40 per cent complete and will be commissioned by December 2015.

It joins a host of other exquisite properties in the county including Bofa Beach Resort, Kilifi Bay Beach Resort, Baobab Sea Lodge and Kilifi Creek Villas.

General manager Liu Tiancai said the project targeted high-end investors following increased interest in holiday homes by Kenyans.

“There was a gap in this sector and we felt the need to venture into this market as Kenya has proven to be the world tourism destination with beach retreats as one of the most sought after worldwide,” Mr Liu said.

He said the venture is tourism-oriented, noting that Kenya is  worth every investor’s list in terms of its potential and growth capacity.

“We wanted to create a global destination, something Kenyan, authentic yet modern, that you would find nowhere else in the world,” he said.
